My idea of land conservation started very early, probably before I even knew what it meant. I was a young girl who grew up playing in the woods and fields by my house. We’d run around a mountain stream that had tons of crayfish in a natural pond and play in the woods. We loved it. One day, they decided to build houses there. In places where there used to be tall forest trees, jack-in-the-pulpit and wildflowers, there was nothing but green lawns and houses. It was then I decided there must be a way we could provide homes for people but also protect the natural wonders of our area.
